POLICE are hunting a Lord of the Rings look-a-like who stole a woman's handbag.

A 27-year-old woman who was knocked over before having her handbag stolen said her attacker was "A 20-year-old white male, under six foot tall and looked like the actor from Lord of the Rings and hit TV series Lost."

The robber bore an uncanny resemblance to actor Dominic Monaghan who played hobbit Merry in the Lord Of The Rings movie trilogy and is currently starring in the big budget Channel 4 show Lost.

She also described the suspect as gaunt and pale and wearing a blue hooded top.

The woman was attacked at 9.30pm in Well Walk, Hampstead.

She was walking along the street when she was pushed to the ground from behind and felt someone pulling at her bag.

As the woman got to her knees she saw the robber standing over her and pulling her bag from her shoulder.

She shouted at him to stop but he ran off with her handbag. A mobile phone, cash, keys and a Sony Discman were among the items stolen.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or have any information about it should call police on 020 7404 1212 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
