Islington Admiral United B 4

Islington Borough B 1

NICK Jones scored a sensational volley to help Admiral B keep up their push for promotion to the Premier Division in emphatic style against Islington Borough.

Jones struck twice in the second half as Admiral survived a spell of Borough pressure to emerge with the points.

Goalkeeper Sam McMullen pulled off several fine saves in the first period to give his teammates the base for a much-improved second-half display.

Aaron Kennedy put Admiral into a 15th-minute lead, but that was quickly cancelled out as Borough grabbed an equaliser.

But Jones then raced onto a through ball and slotted home to restore Admiral's lead, before Leon Skinner's powerful header beat the defenders on the goal-line to make it 3-1.

That set the stage for a stunning late second goal from Jones, as he stepped onto a pass from Terry Read to crash home a 25-yard volley into the top corner, and seal a comfortable win.

Islington Admiral United B: McMullen, Suzen, Lambert, Skinner, Laws, Read, Bullock (Kean), Kinsella, Notaro (Carlin), Kennedy, Jones.
